The mission was a partial failure due to a problem in the YZ-1S upper stage during the flight, that prevented the satellites from accurately entering the intended orbit. Tracking data appears to show China is attempting to salvage spacecraft initially intended for the moon but left stranded by a rocket stage malfunction. They appear to have succeeded in reaching their desired orbit.
