Helios 2A

Helios 2A was the lead satellite of France's second-generation optical reconnaissance program, giving Paris and its partner nations a sovereign high-resolution imaging capability independent of the United States. It shared the ride with a cluster of four Essaim microsatellites flown to demonstrate space-based electronic intelligence. This was the final flight of the Ariane 5 Generic.
