ViaSat-2
ViaSat-2 was the world's highest-capacity commercial communications satellite at launch, built by Boeing to deliver broadband coverage across North and South America, the Caribbean, and trans-Atlantic flight and maritime routes. Eutelsat 172B was the first all-electric satellite launched by Arianespace on an Ariane 5, built on Airbus's Eurostar E3000 EOR platform.
The combined satellite mass of 9,969 kg (10,865 kg including the dual-launch adapter) set a new record for the heaviest commercial payload delivered to geostationary transfer orbit, surpassing Ariane 5's previous record from August 2016. The combined mission value exceeded $1 billion. The 79th consecutive successful Ariane 5 launch.
