EDRS-C

Ariane 5 carried EDRS-C and Intelsat 39 on a shared flight that slipped about two weeks while Arianespace studied and tested several components. Intelsat 39 separated 29 minutes after liftoff and EDRS-C about four minutes later.

EDRS-C is the second node of the European Data Relay System, a partnership between ESA and Airbus that relays data from low-orbiting satellites to the ground over laser links.
