MetOp-SG B1

MetOp-SG B1 carries a different instrument suite from the A-type satellites, focused on surface and cloud measurements: a scatterometer for ocean-surface wind vectors and soil moisture, a microwave imager for precipitation and sea-ice extent, and an ice cloud imager. Paired with MetOp-SG A1, the two spacecraft carry 11 instruments between them to deliver EUMETSAT's full second-generation observing capability.
