Beidou 1B

The second BeiDou satellite, which brought China's experimental navigation system into service. Paired with the geostationary satellite launched that October, it gave the two-satellite BeiDou-1 enough geometry to provide positioning across China and neighboring regions, the modest first step toward the global constellation that followed two decades later.
