GCOM-C

An H-IIA with upgraded functions placed two satellites into different orbits: GCOM-C, the climate-observing satellite named Shikisai, separated about 16 minutes after liftoff, and the Super Low Altitude Test Satellite (SLATS), renamed Tsubame, about 1 hour 48 minutes after.

SLATS tested operating in very low orbit, below 200 km, using ion engines to offset air drag. It reached a lowest altitude of 167.4 km before operations ended on 30 September 2019.
