Electron carried NASA's Starling mission, four cubesats built to test how a swarm of small satellites can coordinate their flight in orbit on their own. Telesat's LEO 3, a test satellite for the company's planned Lightspeed broadband constellation, went to an orbit about 1,000 km up.

After separation the first stage came down under a parachute to a soft splashdown in the Pacific and was recovered, part of Rocket Lab's effort to make Electron reusable.
