Electron deployed ADRAS-J, a satellite Astroscale Japan built to approach a derelict H-IIA rocket stage without any help from the stage itself. Flying under Phase I of JAXA's Commercial Removal of Debris Demonstration program, ADRAS-J spent the following months conducting rendezvous and proximity operations around the 11-meter stage, which had tumbled uncontrolled in orbit since 2009, closing to within 15 meters of it by December 2024.
