NROL-123 closed out the NRO's Rapid Acquisition of a Small Rocket (RASR) program, the last satellite launched under the streamlined commercial contract that brought reconnaissance payloads to Electron beginning with NROL-151 in 2020. The mission was also Electron's first NRO launch from US soil; all four prior NRO missions on Electron had flown from Mahia, New Zealand.
