"Ready, Aim, PREFIRE"

First of two Electron launches for NASA's Polar Radiant Energy in the Far-InfraRed Experiment (PREFIRE), carrying one of its two shoebox-size CubeSats to a 525 km orbit; the twin followed on 5 June 2024. Each CubeSat carried a spectrometer measuring the heat Earth's polar regions radiate to space at far-infrared wavelengths, where nearly 60% of Arctic emission occurs but which had never been systematically measured.

This CubeSat began returning science data on 1 July 2024. NASA later extended the mission and widened its view from the poles to the whole globe.
