The STP-S30 mission was the first orbital demonstration of DiskSat, a disc-shaped satellite form factor roughly one metre in diameter and 2.5 cm thick, developed by The Aerospace Corporation with NASA funding as an alternative to the cubesat standard. The four prototype spacecraft were designed to validate the design's ability to generate up to 100 watts of power through body-mounted solar cells and manoeuvre to different orbital regimes, including very low Earth orbit.
