Suborbital debut of the Irtysh rocket (also known as Soyuz-5), Russia's intended successor to the Zenit and its most powerful new launcher since the Soviet era. Powered by the RD-171MV engine on its first stage, the rocket flew a ballistic arc from Baikonur Pad 45 with a mass-simulator payload before splashing down in the Pacific.
