Final flight of Falcon 9 v1.1. Jason-3 extended the sea-surface height time series begun by TOPEX/Poseidon in 1992, carrying a radar altimeter accurate to about 3 cm to continue the multi-agency ocean-monitoring program operated by CNES, EUMETSAT, NASA, and NOAA.

The first stage made a soft touchdown on the drone ship Just Read the Instructions in the Pacific, but one landing leg failed to latch, and the vehicle toppled and broke apart on deck.
