Qatari communications satellite carrying the first amateur radio transponders ever placed in geostationary orbit, a joint project between Qatar Satellite Company, the Qatar Amateur Radio Society, and AMSAT Deutschland. Operating as Qatar-OSCAR 100 (QO-100), the amateur payload links radio operators across a footprint stretching from Brazil to Thailand and from Iceland to the Indian Ocean — a coverage span no previous amateur radio satellite had approached.
