A grid-fin hydraulic pump stalled during the descent and the booster lost roll control, spinning fast enough that it ditched in the Atlantic off Cape Canaveral instead of landing at LZ-1. SpaceX recovered the stage from the sea; it never flew again. Dragon delivered GEDI, a vegetation-mapping lidar built to measure forest canopy structure, for external installation on the station.
