Arabsat 7B
Badr-8 (Arabsat 7B) is a geostationary communications satellite operated by Arabsat, the pan-Arab intergovernmental satellite organization. Built by Airbus on the Eurostar Neo platform, it replaced the aging Badr-6 at the 26° East slot, providing TV broadcast, broadband, and data communications across the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia.
TELEO (Terabit Optical Link Experiment), a hosted payload developed by Airbus and CNES, demonstrated high-speed laser communications between the satellite and a dedicated optical ground station, achieving bidirectional links at data rates up to 9 Gbps - roughly 10 to 100 times faster than conventional radio frequency feeder links.
