Dragon's trunk carried ILLUMA-T, a NASA optical communications terminal built to relay station data to the LCRD geostationary relay satellite by laser, and AWE — the Atmospheric Waves Experiment — a temperature imager for mapping the gravity waves that ripple through the mesopause and shape upper-atmosphere weather.
