Its 32 spot beams deliver 48 Gbps of capacity for broadband, in-flight and maritime connectivity, and cellular backhaul across India's mainland and island territories, including the Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands. NSIL leased the satellite's Ka-band capacity to Dish TV.
Originally planned to launch on LVM3, the mission was shifted to Falcon 9 due to weight and scheduling issues.
