Nusantara Lima is owned and operated by PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara (PSN), providing high-throughput connectivity across Indonesia. A portion of its capacity was contracted to BAKTI Kominfo as a hot backup for SATRIA-1, ensuring continuity of government broadband services in the event of a SATRIA-1 outage.

With a launch mass of 7.8 tonnes, Nusantara Lima set a record as the heaviest satellite ever launched by Falcon 9 to geostationary transfer orbit - and the second-heaviest commercial geostationary satellite ever launched, behind Jupiter 3 (EchoStar-24) at 9.2 tonnes.
