City Labs' BOHR (Betavoltaic Orbital High-Reliability) CubeSat became the first commercially built nuclear-powered satellite to reach orbit, and the first payload cleared under the FAA's nuclear launch licensing framework. Its NanoTritium betavoltaic cells convert the energy from tritium's radioactive decay directly into electricity - a source that needs no sunlight and will continue generating power for decades.
