Contracted alongside SXM-12 in 2022 to extend SiriusXM's reach into Canada and southern Alaska, SXM-11 adds coverage capacity rather than replacing a failed or aging satellite - a departure from the role most of its SXM-series predecessors played. Maxar Technologies built both on the LS-1300 platform, each fitted with an unfurlable mesh reflector nearly 10 metres across.
