SBIRS GEO-6

The launch completed the Space-Based Infrared System (SBIRS) geosynchronous constellation, giving the U.S. Space Force persistent global coverage for detecting ballistic missile launches and other infrared events. The constellation had been building since 2011, with GEO-6 closing out a program that stretched across more than two decades of development.
