Artemis I

Artemis I was the first integrated test flight of the Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft - an uncrewed mission designed to validate both vehicles in a deep-space environment before a crewed flight. Orion flew a polar distant retrograde orbit around the Moon for roughly six days before returning to Earth and splashing down in the Pacific Ocean off Baja California on 11 December 2022 - 50 years to the day since the Apollo 17 lunar landing.

Ten CubeSats were deployed from the upper stage within eight hours of launch.
