ADM-Aeolus

First satellite to measure wind profiles on a global scale. Aeolus carried the ALADIN ultraviolet Doppler wind lidar, measuring horizontal wind components from the surface to approximately 30 km altitude to provide data for improving numerical weather prediction models.
