JUL 13202213:13:17 UTCLARES 2 (Laser Relativity Satellite 2) is a passive geodetic satellite built for ASI, designed to refine measurement of the Lense-Thirring effect - the gravitomagnetic frame-dragging predicted by Einstein's general relativity. Carrying only retroreflectors and no electronic components, it will remain operational for laser-ranging indefinitely.
