NS-25

Ed Dwight was selected on President Kennedy's personal recommendation in 1963 as the first Black American to enter the Air Force's astronaut training pipeline, but was passed over for the NASA corps following Kennedy's assassination - leaving him six decades short of space. At 90, he finally flew on NS-25, surpassing William Shatner's record set on NS-18 in 2021 to become the oldest person ever to reach space.

NS-25 was the 7th crewed New Shepard flight and the program's first crewed mission in nearly two years; the previous crewed flight, NS-22, had launched in August 2022.
