Karsen Kitchen, a University of North Carolina student, became the youngest woman to cross the Kármán line, one of six passengers on New Shepard's flight. Rob Ferl, director of the Astraeus Space Institute at the University of Florida, was the first NASA-funded researcher to run an experiment on a commercial suborbital crew, activating plant samples at altitude to capture gene-expression snapshots for later analysis.
