17th crewed New Shepard flight, carrying six passengers on a suborbital space tourism mission. One of the original crew members was replaced shortly before launch after falling ill; Blue Origin's director of New Shepard Launch Operations, Dr. Laura Stiles, flew in their place.

Blue Origin announced a suspension of New Shepard operations eight days after the flight, citing a shift of personnel and resources to the Blue Moon lunar lander program in support of NASA's Artemis campaign. The suspension was expected to last at least two years, making NS-38 the last New Shepard flight before an extended pause.
