Zhuque-2E Y5 was the first flight of the improved "Block 2" configuration, which introduced lengthened first-stage tanks, subcooled propellant loading, and a three-ignition second stage. LandSpace flew a mass simulator rather than commercial satellites to validate the upgraded vehicle before resuming commercial service.

Return to flight following the August 2025 failure, in which an electrical arc in the second stage's main power cable shorted its control units, disabling engine gimbal control and triggering the vehicle's autonomous flight termination system.
