CHAMP

CHAMP was a German geoscience minisatellite that carried a magnetometer, an accelerometer, and a GPS receiver into a low polar orbit to map Earth's gravity and magnetic fields at the same time, something no single mission had done before. Its decade-long record became a baseline for models of the planet's interior and a pioneering demonstration of GPS radio occultation for atmospheric sounding.
