Maiden flight of Strela, a launcher converted from the UR-100N intercontinental ballistic missile. Unlike the related Rokot, which adds a Briz upper stage, Strela kept far closer to the original missile, reusing the warhead-carrying bus to place its payload in orbit. This first flight carried only a mass simulator.
