Maiden flight of the Minotaur I, the first orbital rocket built from surplus Minuteman II ICBM stages under the Air Force's Orbital/Suborbital Program. It carried a cluster of small university and military experiments and pioneered the rideshare deployment that would become a staple of small-satellite launch, including the OPAL carrier that ejected some of the earliest picosatellites.
