MTC SV-1

First satellite of the Missile Track Custody (MTC) constellation, a 12-spacecraft Space Force program built to detect and track ballistic and hypersonic missile threats from medium Earth orbit. The MEO altitude gives the sensors a wide field of view while keeping them close enough to resolve the dimmer thermal signatures of maneuvering hypersonic vehicles that are difficult to detect from geostationary orbit.
