Diamant
French small-lift orbital rocket
France built Diamant from ballistic missile heritage and on 26 November 1965 launched Astérix from Hammaguir, Algeria — making France the third country to orbit its own satellite on its own rocket. Nine of twelve Diamant launches succeeded before the rocket was retired in 1975 in favour of Ariane.
