Long March 4

updated 16 hours ago

Chinese medium-lift sun-synchronous orbital rocket

Built in Shanghai, Long March 4 has mostly carried weather and Earth-observation satellites, such as Fengyun, Gaofen and Yaogan, into polar and sun-synchronous orbits. Its first launch, in 1988, put up Fengyun 1A, China's first weather satellite, and in 2018 it sent the Queqiao relay satellite toward the Moon for Chang'e 4's landing on the far side.

We track every Long March 4 launch.
