N-II

Japanese licence-built nine-booster Delta orbital rocket

The N-I's successor, still a licence-built Delta, with nine strap-on boosters instead of three and an American second stage in place of the Japanese one. N-II flew eight times from Tanegashima between 1981 and 1987 without a failure, launching Japan's Himawari weather satellites, Sakura communications satellites and Yuri broadcasting satellites.
