Polyot
Early Soviet small-lift anti-satellite test rocket
A test vehicle for the Soviet anti-satellite programme, Polyot flew just twice — November 1963 and April 1964 — to demonstrate that a spacecraft could manoeuvre aggressively in orbit, a capability needed for an interceptor. Both missions succeeded, proving the concept that became the operational IS ASAT system.
