Scout
American solid-fuel small-lift orbital rocket
The first orbital rocket built entirely from solid-fuel stages. Scout first flew in 1960 from Wallops Island, Virginia, managed by NASA Langley. Small, cheap, and reliable, it launched scientific satellites for the US and international partners for 34 years before retiring in 1994.
