SLV
Indian small-lift solid-fuel orbital rocket
India's first orbital rocket — an all-solid four-stage vehicle that put the Rohini satellite in orbit on 18 July 1980, making India the seventh country to reach space under its own power. Led by a young APJ Abdul Kalam, the first attempt in 1979 failed; the second succeeded and proved ISRO could do it.
