A powerful Ukrainian-built rocket that became the foundation of Sea Launch — a floating platform on the Pacific equator that sold commercial GEO slots in the 2000s. The 2014 annexation of Crimea severed Russian access to Ukrainian hardware; Sea Launch suspended operations in 2020 and the Zenit family has not flown since.
