Japanese small-lift solid-fuel orbital rocket

Japan's solid-fuel small launcher has had a rough stretch — the sixth flight in October 2022 was the first Epsilon not to reach orbit. The improved Epsilon S has been grounded by two second-stage engine explosions during ground testing in 2023 and 2024, but JAXA plans a first flight for fiscal 2026 using an existing engine design.

We track every Epsilon launch.
